We have received a number of inquiries from readers wondering why some of their favorite companies were left out of our annual ranking of companies by market value ("The Global 1200," Cover Story, Dec. 26). As we noted in the accompanying story, this is a ranking of the companies included in Standard and Poor's Global 1200 index, and is therefore not a comprehensive list of the world's most valuable companies.
